October 2022 Newsletter
Coming this November
Cooper team (from left to right) Alexianne, Brittne, Isaac, Kyle, Mariah, and Jen at the Ben's Bells studio for Camp Kind
Discover and explore the wonders of the Sonoran desert in a morning of fun and adventure for young children and their families. On Saturday November 5th, from 9am - Noon, families have the opportunity to experience Camp Cooper!

Camp Cooper is nestled on 10 acres of pristine Sonoran Desert - rich with plant and animal life. Short walks on well maintained trails await Tucson's youngest learners at Preschool Family Nature Day. Preschool Family Nature Day is co-hosted by the University of Arizona College of Education. Students in the College's Early Childhood Education (ECE) program will lead guided activities designed to help preschool-aged learners engage and connect with nature. Learn more about the ECE here.

Take guided nature walks, meet our ambassador desert animals, grab refreshments and treats from local food trucks, and enjoy a very special musical performance from Mr. Nature!
Camp Cooper's Preschool Family Nature Day is FREE! The day's activities are designed for children ages 3 - 5, but all families are welcome! We'll have food truck options providing beverages and food, but families are encouraged to bring snacks, water bottles, and sun protection, too.
The Success of our Give the Desert Campaign
We did it! With your help, we were successful in passing our goal of raising $30,000 for Camp Cooper staff and educational programs. We raised $30,840 in September, with 103 people donating.

Your donations directly pay for students to learn and connect with nature. It pays for our field trips and overnight experiences and ensures even more students from Title 1 schools have access to the outdoor education staff and activities that we offer.

Thanks to everyone who helped us exceed our goal to Give the Desert to Tucson and Southern Arizona!
Field Trips are back at Camp Cooper
We just had our first field trip for the Fall 2022 season and we couldn't be happier to see students back on our trails! Cooper staff have been working on updates to our educational programs, camp improvements and preparing the trails for visitors in preparation for all of our upcoming field trip visitors.

Our first class this year is Mrs. Shaloo's 2nd-graders from Dietz K-8 School who explored the desert and discovered rocks, plants, and animals and the many different types of homes our animal friends occupy in the desert. After a quick lunch, students met some of Camp Cooper's animal ambassadors and learned more about what it takes to live in our desert neighborhood.
Thank you to Mrs. Shaloo, her teaching assistant and parent volunteers, as well as her entire 2nd grade class for being super fun and for being our first field trip this year! You can learn more about our field trip and overnight programs here.
